Our Story

Manitowoc Cranes

With the realities of the global marketplace, today’s customers no longer accept “one-size-fits-all” solutions. To meet such varied and highly specific needs, Manitowoc is structured to fully meet the region- and task-specific needs of a diverse clientele.

Manitowoc lattice boom crawler cranes, Potain tower cranes, Grove mobile hydraulic cranes and National Crane telescoping cranes are built, sold and serviced at multiple locations on five continents. For maximum functionality and value, nearly all Manitowoc products are engineered as modular base units, available with add-on components that can be added to expand their role. Finally, each product has been designed with features that meet the requirements of differing regions, including international transportation regulations, operational simplicity and efficient performance in even the most challenging environments.

To get you in the field with the right equipment, Manitowoc Finance gives you access to flexible, affordable financing you can use to seize profitable new opportunities as they arise. And, once in the field, Manitowoc’s Crane Care comprehensive service packages put expert diagnosis and repair at your side. All work is performed by trained local representatives who speak the native language and return your equipment to profitable operation in less time.

Maximizing Value

In a world of “planned obsolescence,” Manitowoc cranes are engineered to be a profitable part of your business for years to come. In fact, our products last so long, we often find ourselves working with customers still using the same equipment they bought from us 20, 30, even 40 years ago, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Power Of Global Reach

Located regionally throughout the world, Manitowoc is uniquely positioned to meet the wide-ranging, ever-expanding needs of highly diverse customer groups. With more than 4,200 manufacturing, sales and service experts in three strategically located regions, Manitowoc Cranes the only lifting company you’ll ever need.

Americas Region

Manitowoc has two of its largest manufacturing facilities in the U.S.: the Manitowoc manufacturing facility in Wisconsin, where both crawler crane and tower crane parts are produced and the Shady Grove plant in Pennsylvania, where mobile cranes and boom trucks are built. There are also regional offices in Mexico and Brazil, and the extensive dealer network throughout the U.S. and Canada boasts coverage and support unrivaled by any other crane manufacturer.

Through a combination of quality products and outstanding service and support, Manitowoc has dominated the lifting market of the Americas region for the last 50 years. The names Grove, Manitowoc Cranes and National Crane have remained at the top of their market sectors in the U.S., Canada and throughout Latin and South America.

The incorporation of Potain in 2001 saw an increase in sales of tower cranes to the region. Today, the product range is a fast growing segment of the business in the Americas.

Europe, Middle East, Africa Region (EMEA)

As one of the world’s most culturally and economically diverse regions, EMEA calls for close attention to detail. Manitowoc Cranes provides just that. Well-established local dealers with intimate market knowledge are supported from the EMEA headquarters in Ecully, France and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, Italy and Portugal. There are also numerous smaller regional offices to ensure this important region receives the attention it warrants.

Top-slewing tower cranes and self-erecting tower cranes from Potain remain the market leader in the region and Grove all-terrains dominate the industry in a number of categories. Crawler cranes from Manitowoc have recently rolled off the production lines in EMEA for the first time, and a new sales and support structure ensures these products have a bright future. New facilities and a new Manitowoc Crane Care network complete the market-leading service and sales provision from Manitowoc.

Asia-Pacific Region

Long-standing relationships with many of the region’s largest construction equipment dealers and major crane owning companies allow Manitowoc to develop deep roots in the Asia-Pacific region. Though this region has experienced economic highs and lows in recent years, Manitowoc’s commitment has always remained constant. The reassurance that comes from knowing backup and support is available, whatever the situation, has helped win the hearts and minds of crane owners throughout the region.

The company’s philosophy of building cranes suited to specific regions has always applied in Asia-Pacific, but this philosophy was taken a step further in recent years with the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Zhangjiagang, China, that is fully owned by Manitowoc. A complete restructuring of the sales and service network in the region has seen the opening of dozens of new offices, putting the company in a stronger position.
