Finnish rental company adds seven Grove cranes

1/14/2013 Scandinavia

Scandinavian rental and transport company Havator has added seven Grove cranes to its growing fleet – including the first RT9130E rough-terrain crane in Europe. The company bought the cranes, which range from 80 t to 220 t, from both the GMK range of all-terrain cranes and the RT range of rough-terrain cranes. Havator says they will help meet demand for high-quality and durable lifting equipment at industrial projects in Scandinavia.

Havator, which operates one of the largest crane fleets in Scandiavia and has 20 Grove models and a Manitowoc crawler crane, said the new additions enhance the company’s strength at off-road and special application projects, as Erkki Hanhirova, group president, explains.

“Industrial projects, particularly in the mining sector, are very active – there are several currently underway while other new starts have recently been announced,” he said. “These projects demand powerful equipment that can reach remote, off-road locations with ease. Our new Grove cranes not only have the capacity, but the build quality to reach places where other cranes often struggle. This means we can bid more projects and grow our customer base even further.”

The seven Grove cranes were bought by Havator in February 2012. They will work on a variety of sites across Finland, Sweden and Norway.

The 120 t capacity RT9130E, which is the second largest rough-terrain crane from Grove, joins Havator’s existing fleet of four 75 t capacity RT880s. The new crane has already impressed its new owners with its fast set up time and impressive 48.5 boom, which can be extended to 85 m with the use of jib attachments.

The other cranes purchased by Havator include a GMK5095, GMK5130, GMK5170 and GMK5220.

“We continually look to strengthen our position as a full service supplier, particularly at industrial scale projects,” adds Erkki Hanhirova. “The growing number of projects in our region combined with our broad customer base and long history means we are confident that our services will continue to be in demand.”

Established in 1956, Havator Group provides crane services, special transports, section assembly and harbor crane services. The company employs around 600 people and operates throughout Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic states.
