Rémi Deporte has been named global product manager for tower crane mechanisms for Manitowoc’s Potain brand. In this role, Deporte is responsible for staying abreast of new technologies in tower crane product development as well as worldwide standards concerning tower cranes. Tower crane mechanisms incorporate components such as the hoist, trolley and slewing mechanism, and the mast sections, on Potain cranes.
Part of Deporte’s role is to synthesize the regional “Voice of the Customer” activities in new product development for global requirements and specifications. Manitowoc’s Voice of the Customer process determines market needs before a product is developed. Deporte reports to Bob Hund, vice president of global marketing, and joins Manitowoc’s team of global product managers covering individual product lines and brands.
According to Bob Hund, Deporte’s role is to build on the success of Manitowoc’s existing tower crane technology.
“Manitowoc prides on being at the cutting edge of new lifting technologies that meet customer needs,” he said. “Rémi’s vast knowledge and experience will help us continue to be leaders in the lifting industry. Potain has led the field in terms of frequency controlled drives, lifting software and other packages that help contractors improve productivity. As we look to the future, we want to develop those technologies and look to the next generation of mechanisms to take us forward.”
Deporte is an accomplished senior manager with over 20 years experience in tower cranes. He is based in Manitowoc’s facility in La Clayette, France but will travel extensively in this new role.
