Manitowoc featured three cranes from its Grove and Potain product lines and highlighted its customer service division, Manitowoc Crane Care, at CONEXPO Russia. The construction equipment trade show took place September 15–18 at the International Exhibition Center – Crocus Expo in Moscow. The show was organized by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Among those at the show was Glen Tellock, chairman of the board of directors at AEM and also president and CEO of The Manitowoc Company, Inc.

According to Glen Tellock, there is strong demand for cranes in Russia and the surrounding countries.

“Russia and the surrounding areas are experiencing tremendous growth and development,” he said. “Contractors are heavily involved in both developing local infrastructure and the booming oil and gas industries. There is strong demand for high quality lifting equipment and Manitowoc has the range of cranes and customer support to help end users with their busy project deadlines.”

In recent years Manitowoc has invested heavily in the region with a new sales office in Moscow and a growing dealer network. The company is also increasing its Manitowoc Crane Care customer service activities and recently opened a Potain tower crane factory in Slovakia serving Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

One of the tower cranes from the new facility, a Potain MDT 178, was on display at the Manitowoc booth. The MDT 178 is a Topless City crane with a maximum jib of 60 m and maximum load of 8 t. Also featured at the booth was the 220 t capacity Grove GMK5220 all-terrain crane. This crane has a main boom of 68 m. From the self-erecting crane range Manitowoc had a 4 t Potain Igo 36. This crane has a maximum radius of 32 m.
