Manitowoc introduces second model in Potain Igo T line
The second model in the Igo T range of self-erecting cranes from Potain is the Igo T 85. The crane made its global debut on Manitowoc’s stand at CONEXPO 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S. earlier this year. The Igo T cranes are characterized by telescopic lattice masts that offer users variable working heights. The Igo T 85 offers working heights between 20 m and 35 m with variations achieved either through telescoping or adding auxiliary sections. Maximum tip height is 48 m.
Vincent Milan, Manitowoc’s senior product manager for Potain self-erecting cranes, said the popularity of self-erecting cranes continues to grow. “We are seeing new markets and new applications for self-erecting cranes as the product line evolves. Traditional users are also looking to get more from their cranes,” he said. “That’s why these Igo T cranes are proving so popular. Their ability to cover large areas of the jobsite and the speed with which they transfer loads makes them a hit with contractors.”
The Igo T 85 has a maximum capacity of 6 t, which it can lift to a radius of 15.5 m. The Igo T 85 can unfold its jib to various lengths for optimum choice in reach and capacity. The crane can pick 1.25 t at its maximum radius of 45 m. With the jib unfolded to 40 m, the crane picks 1.65 t at jib end. The jib can luff up to 30˚ and, depending on mast configuration, can offer lift heights between 42 m and 48 m. Potain self-erecting cranes are well-known for their compact footprint. The Igo T 85 is no exception with a 4.5 m x 4.5 m base. Smooth and fast hoist operations come courtesy of Potain’s 20 LVF 15 Optima winch which offers speeds of up to 65 m/min.
