Manitowoc displays latest Grove cranes at SAIE 07
Manitowoc displayed several of its Grove EMEA-manufactured cranes at this
year’s SAIE exhibition which was held in Bologna, Italy, from October 24 - 28.
On display were four Grove mobile cranes, including one new model.
Philippe Cohet, Manitowoc Crane Group’s executive vice president for EMEA,
said more products and more production were the central messages at the
show.
“We are increasing our number of products and our production levels across
all of our brands, including our Grove factories in Germany and Italy,” he
said. “SAIE provided us a perfect platform to show our customers in southern
Europe the latest rough-terrain cranes from our Niella Tanaro factory in Italy
and several all-terrain cranes from our Wilhelmshaven factory in Germany.”
The Grove RT530E-2 made its international debut at SAIE. Manitowoc
manufactures the crane at its factory in Niella Tanaro, Italy. The 30 t crane
has a single control to extend its four main boom sections to a tip height of
45 m. The ergonomic E-Series cab features a sliding skylight and full
acoustical lining.
The other rough-terrain crane displayed was the RT540E also produced at
Niella Tanaro. This 35 t crane has a 31 m four-section boom and an offsettable
telescopic swing-away jib that extends tip height to 47 m. Other features
include a 4.5 t counterweight, load moment, and anti-two block system. Also
included are dual-axis electric joysticks and a new all-steel cab.
Among the all-terrain cranes on show was the GMK4100-L (a long-boom version
of the GMK4100). The impressive 100 t crane has a 60 m seven-section main boom
which telescopes to full height in less than nine minutes. An optional jib
extends the tip height of the GMK4100-L to 83 m.
The GMK4100-L also features Grove’s new carrier cab design. The cab
incorporates Grove’s ECOS® electronic control system and a
high-visibility control panel, among other features. The GMK4100-L also
provides improved fuel consumption versus other cranes in its class as a result
of its weight-saving design and 295 kW Mercedes-Benz carrier engine.
The other crane on display from Grove at SAIE was the 130 t GMK5130 -1.
