Manitowoc Crane Group engineering manager, Robert Satori, is the 2006 winner
of the ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers)
Wisconsin Section Young Engineer Award. The selection committee’s decision was
unanimous, even though there was strong praise for this year’s entire slate of
nominees. The award announcement came at the ASABE Wisconsin Section meeting
in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on March 29.
Steven Lohr, Manitowoc Crane Group’s director of new product development and
engineering, nominated Satori and said he was delighted with the award.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Bob for the past six years,” he said.
“He is an extremely high energy individual, with talent, self-motivation, and
a passion to drive change. He was a natural for nomination and no one was more
deserving of the award.”
Based in the Manitowoc Crane Group Americas engineering department, in
Manitowoc Wisconsin, Satori is responsible for managing a group of 15
engineers in the design and analysis of crawler and mobile cranes.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Satori has been highly active
in the recruitment and mentoring of graduate engineers with the company. He
has worked with MCG’s Human Resources department to recruit a high school
intern, and has promoted engineering and science as a career path at a local
middle school.
Born and raised in Manitowoc, Satori began his engineering career after
graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994, where he gained a
Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering. He worked as a
production engineer and supervisor before joining Manitowoc Crane Group as a
mechanical engineer in 1999. There he rose quickly through the ranks, gaining
promotion to staff project engineer in 2001 and engineering manager in 2002.
He earned a Masters of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
2004 and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
