Two new self-erecting cranes to debut at bauma

Potain’s range of self-erecting cranes will welcome two innovative additions
at bauma 2007 – the Igo T 70 and Igo MC 13. The Potain range of self-erecting
cranes is one of Manitowoc Crane Group’s fastest-growing product lines and
these new models offer all the hallmarks users expect. Strong lifting
capability, excellent coverage, small footprint, and ease of transportation and
set-up are some of the outstanding attributes of these cranes.
Frans Vanwinkel, vice president of sales and marketing for Manitowoc Crane
Group in EMEA, said the two new models offer customers more versatility.
“What’s most important about these two new cranes is the flexibility they
offer,” he said. “In the case of the Igo T 70, this is a crane that offers a
variety of configurations to suit differing job sites. And with the MC 13, we
have a crane that sets new standards in ease of transportation.”
Igo T 70
The crane is the first in a new range that employ a telescopic mast to further
increase the self-erecting crane’s usefulness and efficiency. The Igo T 70 has
a two-section telescopic mast which can increase its height through the
addition of 6m auxiliary sections allowing it to vary its working height
between 20 m and 32 m in increments of 3 m or 6 m. The crane has a maximum
capacity of 4 t and lifts 1.3 t at its maximum radius of 40 m. Shorter jib
lengths are available allowing users to maximize the loads lifted at the jib
end.
These strong load charts are important as contractors want to lift heavier
loads and reduce their number of lifts. Further efficiency on the IgoT 70 comes
from the LVF Optima® winch that automatically adapts and optimizes hoist speed
for the load on the hook. This offers shorter load cycles. Erection costs are
generally lower with the Igo T 70 and it can transport to site on a low-load
trailer.
Igo MC 13
This new crane is equipped with a trailer axle, making it highly mobile and
maneuverable. Users can tow the Igo MC 13 at speeds up to 25 km/h when carrying
full counterweight without exceeding 12 t on the single rear axle. This optimum
transport set-up makes the crane ideal forroading in numerous countries.
The crane erects easily in less than 30 minutes, making it a perfect candidate
for short-term jobs. Maximum capacity is 1.8 t and maximum jib is 22 m, at
which radius the Igo MC 13 lifts 0.6 t.
